Real Life Statistics

Today I will be working with my students on a project where they must find data first. These students are the ones in Algebra this school year. We have been meeting after school on Tuesdays to dig deeper into the subject and learn.

Throughout the day they will be pulling students outside to run. They are trying to see if there is a correlation between age (in months) and how fast people run (50 meter, 100 meter, 1 mile).

Their prediction is no, but I think there may be a little bit. After collecting data today, students will be making a scatter plot and look for a line of best fit. It should be interesting to see how it all comes together.
